Sultan's Favorite Peacock
“Sultan's Favorite Peacock” was designed for the “Gypsy-of-the-Night Challenge” 2002, and won first place. She is the Sultan's first, (and superior) wife, the Sultana.
The “Sultan's Favorite” is an all-cloth doll, made of doesuede fabric. Most of the fabrics and trims in the costume are from Pamela Armas's company, “Treasures of the Gypsy”. The costume is hand-embroidered with beads and sequins. She has painted button eyes, and is lounging on a bed made of gilded foam board and pillows of velvet and satin. The body is 22 in. long, and the piece stands 15 in. tall.
