The Sultan
The "Sultan" was made for the "Treasures of the Gypsy Challenge, 2004". I designed it as a companion piece to "The Sultan's Favorite" I made 2 years earlier. "The Sultan" is an all-cloth doll with a wire armature and skin fabric of doe suede. The costume is made of velvets, satins, brocades, and antique sari fabrics and trims. Further embellishments include hand beaded fringe plus antique gemstones and jeweled bracelets and earrings. The boots are made of gilded leather. The Sultan stands 24 in. tall.
