"Gypsy Mermaid"
This 27" Mermaid doll was made for the "Treasures of the Gypsy Challenge 2006". The skin is hand painted. 15 yards of metallic scalloped trim was used to wrap the tail to give the illusion of fish scales. The dorsal, side, and tail fins are made of pleated metallic chiffon that was wired. Her hair is wire chenille yarns. Real coral was used in the beading and embellishments. She floats over a background made of stained sea shells glued to plywood.
